Hello, my name is Gerri Himberger. I live in Cragmoor- the neighborhood being directly affected by the pump station being put in at Portal Park. I also have several dogs, which I walk daily on the floodway where the pump station is going in.
My first point is that we walk the dogs, my friend and I, every morning, past the construction site. The crew you have on site is exceptionally friendly- they always take the time to say hello, and if there is time, chat for a minute, and say hello to the dogs. They will know who we are- 2 brown Aussies, a Cattle Dog, A Border Collie, and A Yellow dog. This has changed our whole attitude toward this project as we hated the thought of it at all. Now we look forward to waving to everyone as we pass. They also are taking care with trash and other debris to make sure it does not end up in the floodway. This is in sharp contrast to the construction crew across the street working on the Catholic fields- they rarely acknowlege our presence at all, even when we wave, and their garbage is everywhere- they drive THEIR trucks past our dogs as fast as they can- we detest THEM.
My second point is that your crew has gone to great lengths to preserve the trees- you have no idea how much we appreciate that- we love those trees- they have been part of this neighborhood for years- some for 25-50 years for the big ones, and we were sure you would be taking them down. What a delightful suprise that your crew is protecting them so well. Thank you so much- from the entire neighborhood!!!
Because of the way your crew has interacted with the neighborhood people, it has definitely lessened the feelings of animosity toward this project being forced on us. The respect, and friendliness, and respect for the enviroment have made this much easier to swallow. Please thank your crew- there has been alot of construction in the neighborhood in the past few years- and never have we been treated so well by any company. I will certainly mention your name to anyone needing work done.
